Myofascial Release Techniques– This umbrella term encompasses all forms of soft tissue mobilization. These include stretching techniques, massage therapy and fascilitation techniques.
Also included is Trigger Point Therapy (TrPT) which is deep manual pressure applied to and held on sensitive “pressure points” within muscles.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is administered in the same fashion as TrPT, but uses a metal tool to glide over the muscle.
All of these techniques may have an active component where the patient will engage a muscle or a series of movements, with a common goal of normalizing the muscle function. Overall the desired therapeutic benefit is to re-establish proper muscle balances and decrease pain originating from a muscle origin. Our Doctors have certifications from Rocktape and FAKTR which allow them to tailor your treatment to your specific needs.
