At Advanced Physical Medicine, our Chiropractic Physicians specialize in helping active individuals—from athletes to weekend warriors—recover from sports injuries, relieve pain, and move better every day. We focus not just on treatment, but on education, showing you how to move properly to prevent future injuries.
Our Sports Chiropractors have completed advanced training in sports-related injuries, helping your joints move freely, muscles fire correctly, and your body perform at its best. Chiropractic care isn’t just for pain—it can also improve performance, recovery, and overall function.
We also treat chronic pain, post-accident injuries, headaches, and other musculoskeletal issues. Each patient receives a full history and physical exam, followed by personalized treatment options. We review each technique with you and collaborate with other healthcare providers when needed.
Most insurances cover chiropractic care, and a referral is usually not required. Our goal is to help you feel better, educate you on your health, and provide a supportive environment for your care and recovery.
We're changing the game.
Dr. Mitchell’s passion for sports and movement started early, and it ultimately shaped his path into chiropractic care. While playing basketball at Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, he learned that one of his coaches was a chiropractor—sparking his interest in the profession.
As he continued competing and dealing with the demands of sports, he became increasingly drawn to chiropractic’s role in injury prevention, performance, and recovery. While completing his bachelor’s degree at Quinnipiac University, he decided to pursue a career as a chiropractor, focusing on active individuals and athletes.
Today, Dr. Mitchell maintains an active lifestyle through local CrossFit training, basketball, golf, and other fitness activities—giving him firsthand insight into the needs of active patients and those recovering from sports-related injuries.
At Advanced Physical Medicine, Ashlie is the first face you see and the voice you hear, keeping the office running smoothly as office manager and patient coordinator. She also leads the practice’s branding and social media, sharing updates, health tips, and behind-the-scenes moments that help patients stay connected and informed.
Before joining APM, Ashlie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Haven and built a strong healthcare foundation working in paramedicine and EMS, where she gained valuable experience in patient care and medical support.
Ashlie has spent her life in motion—dancing, cheerleading, riding horses, and coaching gymnastics. Her passion for movement and athletic performance continues today, whether she’s coaching young athletes or spending time horseback riding.
In addition to her role at the office, Ashlie is also a branding photographer with a passion for capturing authentic moments and helping businesses visually tell their story. Her creative eye plays a big part in the way APM shares its message online.
As a mom of children involved in sports, Ashlie understands firsthand how important chiropractic care is for keeping young athletes healthy and performing at their best.
Ashlie loves being part of a team that helps people move, recover, and feel their best—and bringing that energy to patients every day is what makes her role so rewarding.
Kelly has been a familiar face at Advanced Physical Medicine for many years, originally serving as our Office Manager. Today, she works behind the scenes in Billing and Insurance, helping ensure that patient accounts, claims, and insurance processes run smoothly and efficiently.
With experience in both clinical healthcare and corporate insurance, Kelly manages insurance verification, claim submission, and accounts receivable at APM, helping maintain accurate billing and timely reimbursements for our patients.
In addition to her role at APM, Kelly also works full-time as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster for a large corporate insurance company. This unique perspective allows her to bring a deep understanding of insurance guidelines, compliance, and claims resolution to the office.
Outside of work, Kelly is a proud ice hockey, field hockey, and softball mom, often cheering on her kids from the sidelines. She enjoys CrossFit and weightlifting, and having grown up playing softball, cheerleading, and dancing, she understands the importance of injury prevention, recovery, and staying active.
Kelly’s experience, organization, and dedication make her an invaluable part of the APM team, helping both the office and our patients run seamlessly.
